It definitely has a neat sorta vintage vibe to it. Initially I didn't like it at all, but there's something sorta nostalgic about it to me for some reason.

ooh.....that's damn cool. I've always fancied the idea of an inlaid top....but never really seen one like that before.

The Alembic featured customs are always fun to look at....bass porn indeed!

I've really liked some of the other "Featured Customs", but aside from the cool neck laminate choices, that one doesn't really do anything much for me.

Man I wish I had seen that when I visited the factory a few weeks ago.

I think it's one of the nicest looking Alembics I've seen in a while!

Hmhmhm, I really admire the craftmanship - world class bar none.

But the design does absolutely nothing for me at all. :(

Nicely made, but it doesn't appeal - I find it looks a bit clunky and the colours don't grab me either. Still, it's a custom bass, so as long as the owner finds it works for them, that's cool with me.

Does the yellow and brown color scheme and bat design scream the 70s to anyone else?

I'm with Josh - that 'tiger' bass looks very appealing to me!

There's a reason for that. The attached is a picture of the bass that's referred to as being the inspiration for this one. The little girl holding it up is now the company president.

There's a really interesting story to how this one even came to be....involves shipping of a similar bass....bass going through the case headstock first....insurance company squirming, but eventually commisioning the building of the Unicorn.

BTW - Josh, the Tiger is also one of my favorite customs too.

    Peace,

    James

I like a lot of Alembics' looks, but not this one. :D

The Rogue is my fave body style, and I love cocobolo, so that fretless really does it for me! Mmmm.

  13. I don't like Alembics. They aren't that good looking(IMO). And they will costs you an arm, a leg, a kidney, an eybrow, and a forehead for one.

Nope, don't care for it at all. If fact, that would rank right down there with the worst looking Alembics I've ever seen. Of course, I don't much care for Alembics in general. But just about any of 'em look better than this one! :spit:

BTW, don't take it personally if you love it. Just one man's opinion. ;)

  15. Yuck!! Ugly. I prefer the 8 string (non doubled) custom from awhile back.

    I dig the tiger bass.
Only thing that gets me :
"Unlined fretless fingerboards sound the best."
I understand that it might be good to have a continuous board but...

Personally I've never been a triple omega fan. I can only remember one of those that I actually liked. Wasn't this one. The one I liked had a ridiculous spalted top.

    Peace,

    James

Oh, and Boogie....it's personal.....I'm sending a vicious dog to your place...via Fed Ex ;) ....It'll be a biiiiggg box, with air holes :D ....Make sure you send him back when he's done with you

Only way I'm opening it is if it sez "Fodera" on the side, amigo! ;)

To each his own, bro.
