    Hi folks.
Recently I purchased an Alembic F1-X preamp. I intended to use it with my headphones (pretty decent, closed-type ones), connecting them to the regular output.
But the sound I'm getting out of that setup is pretty bad. Seems like the headphones are too much of a low load for the output stage. Correct me if I'm wrong on the technical aspect here.
When connecting the pre to a mixer board - everything works fine, so there is nothing wrong with it.
Would a headphone preamp between the pre and the headphones help here?
    Thanks.

Sounds like you are exactly right about the load being the problem. Yes, a headphone preamp would fix that. Also if you're handy with a soldering iron, it shouldn't be too difficult to make a small opamp circuit to correct the load.
