I can never turn past six without driving the tube hard it seems. I was wondering if any of you use tubes that offer more headroom?

i've never replaced my tube so i dunno - it depends on how hot of a signal you're putting into the amp - have you tried input #2? it's padded so you should be able to turn up more, of course that really wont offer you more volume
your tube could be going bad or you maight just need a more powerful poweramp - i almost never turn mine up past 12 o clock
  3. Are you sure it is the tube that is the issue?

I owned an F1X, but only had passive basses, never had the issue. I always had trouble getting enough output to fully drive my PLX amps.
