Has anyone tried alembic pups in a fender jazz bass?

How do they compare tone wise to EMG's (which I have in my 72 jazz)...

I just installed a set of Alembic Activators in my Fender Jazz bass.
    I have a set of EMG's in a Fender P bass.

The Activators are outstanding..so much so, that I can't enjoy the EMG's in the P bass anymore. I'm looking to improve the P bass now because the of this drastic difference. With the balanced response of the Alembic electronics, it's hard to play the EMG's..which were way more balanced then the stock pickups that came out of it. I now feel I have a worthy backup to my Alembic Series bass...lately, the Jazz bass is the only bass I'm playing.

back in the 80's I got some passive Alembic pickups for my PJ bass.
great Hi-fi tone out of a passive bass. never heard anything like it since.

    nice!!
what did you do for control knobs?
the Alembic pot shafts are solid and won't take a standard knob.
I had some custom stainless steel knobs made for mine.

since that last post, I do have activators on my P bass now.
    It's a killer.

Wow... just checked out the Activators over at Alembic's website, haven't looked at them in a while. Are they really $850 and $900 per set?

The Duncan Pro-Active pickups have a nice Alembic vibe. Much nicer than EMG's.

I got to dislike EMG's in my basses so much that I designed my own Alembic sounding pickups.

You can find Activators used for a good price, but they are way expensive new.

yes, it's all about the filter!
I just realized, my first post in this thread was 4 years ago!!
    I STILL love my activators.

    mgmadian,
they come up on ebay now and then..used, you could pay between 2 and 300.00 for a set with Q filter/harness etc.
