Alerce Experience ???

    I found a source who has some boards of alerce and was thinking about getting one for a future bass before these 3,000+ year old trees disappear entirely from the Chilean coast.

    Couple questions -

    - How well do you think it would work on a bass body as a tonewood ? (I know fine classical guitars are sometimes made with it)

    - In your experience, does it look just like redwood or is it more beautiful ? I can't find a very good picture of some boards.

    Please, no CITES sermons....the boards are already cut.
