Why does my amp decrease in volume when I plug in the Alesis drum machine and my bass? I've tried plugging it into the different inputs to no avail.

hi sorry to state the obvious, and seeing as ive never used the unit i wouldnt know, but is there was 'sub volume' control on the unit itself, if so maybe its not tuned up fully. If this is the case, it'd explain the sound decrese.

The volume control of the drum machine works well...it's the volume of the bass that drops significantly.

Might be that the inputs of your amp are designed in such a way that the amount of gain available when both inputs are used is reduced to minimize distortion

    -or-

Plugging both inputs causes some kind of impednace change which causes your bass's out out to go down

    -or-

your equipment is possessed and is messing with you.
