Alesis NanoCompressor for PA use

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by Peter McFerrin, Dec 5, 2002.

  1. I'd like to put together a small 12-channel PA system based around something like a Mackie CFX12 or maybe a Yamaha EMX5000-12. (This is a long-term project as I'm not gonna have $1500 sitting around anytime soon.)

Part of any decent PA system are compressors, and since I could get six NanoCompressors for $300, they look mighty appealing. However, I'm not sure I could trust Alesis on this, because I've used the 3630 before, and it really is that bad.

Anyone used the NanoComp in a live sound context? Would I just be better off saving up some more cash and getting a trio of dbx 266XLs?
