people can get defensive when it comes to their opinions when it comes to metal bands and genre labels...

there is no middle ground and little acceptance of what should be labeled an opinion.

no need to take it personal.



people may not like Alex, Jaco, or Flea... but fact of the matter is theyve accomplished more then most will in their music career and people should at least tip their hat rather then be jealous...

Spoken like the true wise man I know you to be... :D

And I didn't take it so personally as it just sort of rubs me the wrong way when someone who I've never heard of, probably in a band I've never heard of... or never will hear of, wants to make a snide, judgemental comments regarding someone who I have heard of... that anyone who listens to this type of music has heard of.

I'll admit, Death Metal in general isn't my thing. I don't dislike it; it's just not what I choose to listen to for the most part.

And knowing really great artists like you Chris, who are fighting to get recognition for the music you create, I know that the whole Death Metal genre is greatly mistreated and in many circles disrespected... and it's not a fair shake-down at all. You're an awesome bassist/musician. As are the other members of your band.

It's like, why do people want to hate on people they've never met? And why throw stones at someone who has actually worked for 20 years, sacrified and "made it", as much as anyone in this genre does?

If you aren't into the blood or Alex webster, DON'T BUY THE BASS.

A lot of us TBers are quick to judge signature products for the "gimmick" factor, which is completely understandable. But remember, these guys are bass players and were just like us at some point; in most cases they still are! Only a handful of musicians (especially bassists) get the opportunity to land an endoresement AND design a signature instrument that is available on the market. And if I'm not mistaken, Alex has done it twice ;)

...yikes...I guess I should lay off the coffee :help:

To follow the rules of TB, because I've been reminded of them lately... I'm not supposed to state the price in the forum. But if you look at the price list, under Euro Series you'll see that it's just a small amount more expensive than the stock Euro5LX...

And just for the record... the EMG DC pups and EMG Tone Circuit are options for the stock Euro5LX... they always have been. And the cost upgrade for adding the BQC tone circuit to a stock Euro5LX is more than the extra charge for the Alex, which comes with it. So it's really a great deal.

Plus the Alex has a skinny neck profile (front to back). The prototype I had after NAMM for photo was noticably skinner.

I was talking about CC's actual music. That (while being fairly characteristic and representative of "Death Metal") is not "at the forefront."

Quo Vadis INNOVATED too.

Cannibal Corpse plays regular death metal. There's nothing wrong with that, but it isn't progressive, innovative, or "at the forefront".

So perhaps the quote should be that Alex is more of an innovator than Cannibal Corpse? Blotted Science was pretty innovative in my book...

I just saw this thread, if I were to get a 5-string active bass I would buy this one, with the blood. That's not just 'cause it has his name slapped on it, the neck us apparently made more shallow, and I personally really love the cartoony blood splatters on it. If I could afford it, I'd get it.

as a side note, I like CC, but I'm not a big fan of Corpsegrinder, I much preferred the vocals of Chris Barnes. I think that their work was also more frantic with the Barnes period, although their current stuff is great too, I still greatly preferred when Barnes was in.
