Alex Webster's New Signature Spector

DEATH METAL IS MORE SOPHISTICATED THAN JAZZ AND/OR BEETHOVEN.
I called the local Spector Bass dealer in my town the other day when I saw this thread. He had trouble finding the Alex Webster signature, but eventually found it. Like the PDF that was linked earlier with prices showed, the manufacturers price is a little over $3k.
He said he doesn't keep any of these pricey Spectors in stock because it would sit for a year taking up space because no one would buy it.
He also said the retail on this would prolly be more around the $2,100 range. I don't think all the gear I currently own is worth 2 grand. But this is a bass I'd seriously consider this summer. Alex Webster writes a LARGE percentage of the riffs for Cannibal Corpse, and his style completely changed my idea of "Pure bad-ass" years ago when I was exposed to them in the mid 90s.
The Bleeding completely opened my eyes up to some new guitar techniques I'd never heard or considered. And I could hear the bass thru it so I had a new found respect for metal bassists after hearing some of Alex's chops... Even with me not playing bass back then, I still envied this dude.
If this bass feels good and plays really fast with the thinner neck, I may seriously consider buying one of these. Not that it'll be the be all/end all to the metal basses that I collect in the never ending journey to find the best bass for my style...But it's probably got a lot of what I'm looking for in a true metal bass.

as far as I know Alex has used Spectors since The Wretched Spawn came out he still used his Modulus basses live though, but as far as I know that was the first album he used a Spector on and has used them more and more ever since.
and that bass looks rad...if only I could afford it.
He seems pretty happy with it.
And from here on out... he's only playing SPECTORs.

I love it when I see Spector continuing to innovate, bring out new products, and cover lots of music genres! My NS-JH5 is a little more understated...
I actually dig the aggressive Tonepump preamp in this bass. It kicks my MM SR4HH's butt in tone!!

Are they at the forefront of death metal? I dunno. I do know that if I ever need a bass to play "Butchered at Birth" or "Hammer Smashed Face" on, I'll buy one of these Spectors
