    Hello folks,
I'm an owner of a Alfred Meyer 3/4 doublebass. Haven't found much info about this bass and wonder if anyone out there knows anything!? How much can it be worth? How can I check how old it is? And so on... It has some few cracks on the front and the right side. Otherwise really nice.

It has an OLD sticker inside:
    > Alfred Meyer
    > Spezialität: Contrabässe nud Cellos
    > Markneukirchen i. Sa
    > Bergstrasse 559.

    Any ideas?! :meh:

  2. I couldn't find much on this maker. The Jalovec Encyclopedia of Violin Makers (Volume 2) had the following: "Meyer, Alfred Kurt; Markneukirchen. b. 13. 9. 1904. Son and pupil of Alfred Gustav M. worked with his father and after the latter's death concentrated on the productin of concert cellos and doublebasses." It also shows an example of his (1961) label and branding.

Actually the company is still in business. I saw them at the Musikmesse in Germany last month.

    Here are some pics:
