In 1976 Ian Hunter released the CD called "All American Alien Boy" with Pastorius on bass. I would just really really like to get these tracks. My local cdstore don't know it. Anybody know where to download it or just know anything about it ?
www.cdnow.com has it as an import for about $21 you could try www.ebay.com or www.half.com and for a review try www.allmusic.com
I spent about $25 for the import a few years back(hadda have it, ya know). I think there's a new "Best Of Ian Hunter"(2 discs, I think)that is DOMESTIC & does include most of All American Alien Boy. Then again, I just peeked in @www.towerrecords.com & saw AAAB as an import that "ships from the US" for $14!
unless you're an ian huner fan, the presence of jaco doesnt make that album enjoyable. ive got it on vinyl and ive listened to the one cut he takes a solo on once and never listened to rest of it. now it just sits in the pile of unused albums.
Even if you are an Ian Hunter fan, this wasn't one of his best releases. Hunter, IMO, tried to get a creme-de-la-creme band behind his songs, and he nearly lost all of his edge in doing so. I've got it, and dug it out to hear Jaco play (I actually never really have). It was technically excellent, but didn't do much for me. Probably a better reason to get this disc is to hear the cut that Jaco played guitar on.
I picked up a copy for $8 a while back from cdnow.com. It was worth the $8, but I don't think I would have shelled out $14-$25 for it. It's nice to hear Jaco in a rock setting, but don't kill yourself, or go broke to find a copy.
