... Epiphone is taking over my colection! I've just realized that the most represented brand in my collection right now is Epiphone. It all started with my Jack Casady bass that I bought used from a friend back in 2017. Then I bought a Thunderbird Vintage Pro that came to my hands in early January 2019. And now I've just received my new Viola bass that I really love. I've been GASing for a violin bass for a long time and I was divided between the Hofner Ignition and the Epiphone Viola. What made me go for the Viola were the controls. I very much prefer the volume/volume/tone controls of the Epiphone compared to the control plate of the Hofner, specially because I like to play with the tone a lot. And when I received the Viola I instantly fell in love with it. I still have a set of Labella flats to put on it but it sounds just like I expected it would. For now I think I've ended my Epiphone aquisition frenzy... unless they decide to remake the Zenith fretless bass... Here are my Epi babes...
Nice collection! The recent crop of Epis seem to be way better than the old ones I was used to. I've been seriously GASsing for an EB3 recently.
Those 3 Epi's combine to cover a whole lot of sonic territory! (About as different from each other as you can get!) Love 'em all!
That's exactly why I got them! In fact, that's how most of my basses were chosen. They have to be different from the others that I have and allow me to get something new into my sonic range.
I really love this Tbird! It's got it all: sound and looks! And it's sold at a great price new, so you may even get them cheaper in the used market. And they totally kill with drive!
You now need the iconic EB3 and the short-lived Embassy Pro which can still be found in stores. It has the Tbird’s Probucker pickups, and is the most “normal” and ergonomic Epiphone bass. I’ve seen rumours production might restart in 2021.
