2007 Alleva LG5 Classic Supreme in Nitro finish. This bass is an absolute stunner, plays and sounds killer. IT has a punchy and fat beautiful finger tone and an awesome slap tone too.

    Alder Body

I am being asked if I the fingerboard is really Brazilian wood - I can only say that from what I've been told that during the early NYC days, Jimmy used Brazilian board.

Anyone out there knows a bit more of the early NYC Alleva basses?

I play it all. Whatever works for the gig. Q+
From here it does NOT look like brazilian.. More like an Indian type.. Jimmy should have a build sheet for that bass. If you email or call

The fretboard definitely looks like Indian rosewood based on the stripes. This would make this bass a Classic even if it does in fact have a nitro lacquer finish.
As Kirk mentioned, run the serial by Jimmy. Another way is checking the neck pocket.

Thanks Chris and everyone for your input. A few others who have owned early NYCs PMd me and said it is
Indian Rosewood. The Brazilian wood has a smoother look.

Checked with Jimmy regarding the fretboard wood and confirmed it is
Indian Rosewood and it is a Classic..

I LOVE my LG5. I really don't use it enough as I tend to gig my KBP for whatever reason. I'll have to break mine out though. An LG with nitro really is a holy grail bass IMHO.

I couldn't agree more Joel. This LG5 has that particular tone you get only when the bass has aged and been broken in...
