Anyone have pics of basses they put together via Allparts? I'd love to see them and details on how easy or difficult it was to accomplish.
How was the fit and finish?

Seems like it'd be about the same as any other piece meal build or kit build.

But they don't appear to sell bodies or necks...

Woah... piece meal? That sounds bad :crying:

I've got a Warmoth Jazz in the works that I'll put up against any Jazz out there.

  8. Here's a bass I did about 2 years ago. I don't have it anymore, but here are the specs if I can remember:

-Allparts Precision neck (rosewood with block inlays)
    -Fender body
    -Gotoh bridge/tuners
    -Seymour Duncan SPB-1 Vintage pickup

Most of the stuff came from Basspartsresource.com.

Ahh, thanks. Couldn't find a link.

Well, here is my plan for my build, and yes, I intend to build one since I can buy them part by part over time.

I want to start with a graphite neck like this:

But I want it to be reverse headstock and with block or trapezoid inlays.

Then I want to take a J body, with PJ routing, though I've never seen one like it, I'm sure it can be done. I'll have it finished completely black, then I will dip the treble horn and bottom left of the body, as well as just the headstock on the neck into my mix. Can't really describe it, but here's an example, only using white rather than black as a base color, and doing the whole body rather than just the small part I want to do:

    I'll use EMG pickups:

    emg-pjsystem.

    And this lovely pick guard:
    jbass.

Silver shell from Warmoth, if it doesn't show right.

I'd have hipshot tuners, with an extender for my E string (for easy D-standard dropping), and the following bridge:

That's perty much what I wanna do in a nutshell.

Going with all black hardware. Haven't selected knobs yet, but all in due time.

Was the neck's fit and finish good? How well did it fit the body?

Heh, well, note my name: Jimmy Bones - it's my stage name. I'm all about the skulls and crossbones and stuff. And for the price, I likes it. I could totally mod it if it didn't sound right.
