alright..think im ready to do it...

    build my own bass....i do have wood wroking skills and so forth and tools. so this isn't a problem...

    i need the dems. of a single cut bass... how long adn such and such...
    plan on using oak as a core...then a nice burl top and back?

    anythought?

    wow, cool, do you plan on building your own neck? scary stuff! that's what turned me off it!.
    cant wait to see the progress thread.

    building your own... Cool. Good luck. What are your specs?

    Dims of a singlecut... They're generally the same as a doublecut, just instead of the upper horn reaching to about the 12th fret, you make the whole upper bout meet the neck there.

    Oak... sounds heavy for a body.

    well it is a 1in. think piece of oak..then a top and a back....
    it really isn't that heavy...nothing to my fender jazz (14 lbs.) and im 18...
    the neck maybe oak also

    alright...changed the wood, after much thought..
    poplar is the choice now...
    i changed the design also...but it looks great..

    all i have to do is double check the deminsions then ill be ready to cut and glue...

    and i jsut bid on some flamed maple back and tops for it...

    allright...the body is rough cut out..have to sand it down to size..and get it ready for the maple top and back....

  11. grrrr, the suspense is unbarable, i want to see pictures:( pssst...ARE you making your own neck? ide like to maybe know a little more about that if you are...:meh:

    What's oak like as a tonewood? The neck on my washtub bass is oak.....but that's not exactly an indication of anything is it!

    we want pics! postpone the building and give pics dammit!

    ok...ill get pics tonight some how...just for you guys...and yes i think i may build a neck..but not until i finish the body..or close to it

    the auction ends today for my maple..so that will be in soon hopefully...

    as for oak i really don't know..i just know that ambelic used before so it can't be that bad...just heavey

    the body is roughing out allright..although i do have some chips taked out around some edges...may have to get some saw dust and superglue..
