I'll be at Namm this Saturday representing Benavente and Madison Speakers. If any of you will be there ,feel free to stop by and check it out. I've always wanted a quilted maple bass but for years I was told that I couldn't have one because they couldn't find the wood. This is just what I wanted. This bass is only 8 pounds which is perfect for my neck and back injury. My first custom 9 string was 17 lbs.!!!! I could barley walk after the gig. I'll give a review on it after the Summer Namm. I'll also be doing a bass clinic in Tokyo, for Benavente basses while I'm playing at the Blue Note jazz club. It looks great!!!! Thank you Cris and Brian!!!!!
No midi on this one, but the 11 string will be!!!! Wait till you see that!!! Benavente is a joy to work with! Al Caldwell
Oh wow......!! That bass turned out even better than I thought it would. Very, very nice, Al. I love that quilt top. I'll be looking forward the video of you playing it at the Benavente booth.
Al heres your pictures hosted on my site. Glad you like it............. I promise not to let JT scratch it before you arrive Sat............. everyone Al won't be there till Sat so come by Friday if you want to play it {} {} {} {} Rest of the pics http://www.thelowend.net/gallery/images/benavente/al
is that middle pickup connected to a separate output for something like a guitar amp or something? btw, nice touch, with the signature on the fretboard, especially with that wood. it looks awesome! Charlie
The Guitar pickup lets me turn off the bass pick ups and play it like a lead or rythem guitar. It takes the problem of low string rumbling through the distortion out of the picture. al
I think I've messed myself !!! It Looks Great Al! Every time I see one of Chris' basses, I think "Wow, now THAT one's the best!" Chris, you've got an amazing talent!!!
VERY nice instrument, Al, Chris' basses just keep getting better and better!!! I don't think I'll ever play anything else to be honest...
Hey Al, nice bass, beautiful fret/finger board (whatever the hell it's called, I got no idea). How is that chunk of good looking bass going to be tuned?
