Alternate tuning?????

    Is there a logical or theory solid reason for alternate tunings.

    I mean other than it sounds cool. How did Alt tuning start, some tech tune a guitar or bass wrong as a joke and it sounded cool, or what.:confused:

    For me, I like the lower note of "D" in drop d for the deeper sound, not to mention it makes hitting the octaves on those notes alot easer due to the fact that you have 2 strings on the same note, one octave higher...but thats me
