It's back! This time, the topic is Kraftwerk, the legendary and pioneering German techno group. They were among the first groups to really develop and popularize the use of synthesizers in popular music, and thus laid the foundation for a vast selection of modern genres, including hip-hop, techno, house, and any kind of electronic rock. As a result, they are considered to be one of the most influential artists of the past century. So, what would the world be like if the group had never formed? Here are your scenarios: 1. As stated in the title, Kraftwerk simply never forms. 2. In addition to Kraftwerk never forming, electronic music doesn't take off in the early 80s. Discuss!
1) Another band comes around at some point and does something similar enough to start the same gears. 2) Things ended up taking another 3 - 5 years, but went down a similar path anyway
Modern electronic music would probably sound closer to Tangerine Dream. Which would be an entirely good thing, no grief in that one for me.
