Alternatives to ebony

    There was recently a lengthy thread discussing possible alternatives to ebony as the resource becomes less available and more costly. I found the following article to be very interesting.

  2. I have a custom EUB and the luthier who made it used an absolutely stunning Australian hard wood with patterns to die for, had it for many years and no cracks at all. Its so dense when I tried to install one of those crappy Shaller pickup I even broke the screw, There are so many wood like Iron Bark, Red wood etc. Australia is a huge timber yard, perfect for peghats, fingerboards, nut, tailpiece, etc.
