I told you guys about the Fender Jazzbass with the broken neck.. i also told you guys that the clerk gave me a grey EDC in return. remember ? Well..after doing some very deep thinking i went back to the store today and had a real good talk with the store manager ( about 2 hours ). I told him how dissapointed i was with the broken Fender, but how pleased i was that the clerk treated me with 100 % respect and all. But i also told him that i wasn't 100 % satisfied with the EDC they gave me.. So i talked to the manager a little more, and i left the store with a shiny new Black Ibanez BTB405QM in my hardshell... Am i crazy ? in a timespan of 3 months i switch 6 basses.. - Black Samick - Black BTB 4-string - Silver-green EDC705 - sunburst Fender 4-string - grey EDC705 - Black BTB 5-string I finally have a bass of which i feel VERY satisfied ( BTB 5-string ) and which suits me perfectly, but never-the-less feel a little uhm.. " weird "...
nope, your a bass player,be glad your happy.now if next week comes and you don't like the BTB go to http://www.riksmusic.com and buy your self a nice Spector bass
I know... of yeah.. i forgot to say.. i put D'addario slowounds on the BTB.. man that thing sounds like a hurricane !!
Yes your crazy...crazy good at negotiating. Trade for Fender, trade that in get an EDC, and then trade that in a get a NEW BTB. Maddness.
So how's the BTB playing for you? It was hard for me to get used to the 35" scale but it's a choice bass I think you may hold on to it for about 4 months.
I was going to ask the same question... Also, Allodox, the "weird" feel is always there, when playing a bass you're not completely used to. I give you about a week of actual playing, and you should adapt to it fairly well. I'm sure it has a bit to do with the 35" as opposed to the 34" Jazz. However, that shouldn't be much of a problem, I've changed back and forth, between short (30") scales and 34" basses. It takes about a week to adapt, and you're good.
AllodoX - you must have a very good relationship with the music store for them to do that for you. If your relationship is so good that they allow you to change basses so many times, maybe the next time this happens, get the store to loan you the bass for a week first - my local music store lets me do this - I get to borrow basses to play, then return them (in original condition of course). This way, you can try the bass out to see if it suits you, rather than have to go through the hassle of refunds or exchanges. I still think that you should have negotiated for a Fender Jazz - the way you spoke about it with so much passion before tells me that there was some chemistry there.
I Will get another Jazzbass to add to the BTB some time next few months.. who knows.. christmass present ?
Yes..... .....oh, was I supposed to read your post. BTW, I liek the BTB's best out of all the basses in the Ibanez line. Congrats, for now. LOL.
Allodox, You make me feel less guilty for buying 2 basses and an amp in the same year, and maybe a sansamp bass DI with the tube amp simulation and so on.
so what's worse? going through 6 basses in 3 months? or 5 cars in 3 years? (1973 VW Superbeetle, 1990 VW Corrado, 1988 VW Scirocco 16v (red), 1983 Rabbit GTi, 1988 Scirocco 16v (white) ) i've spent a lot of money on bass stuff this month, but nothing i would classify as crazy. don't worry about it jason
You must be really good at persuading people. Will you help me to get a Stingray 5 for $100? Please!!
