Am Precision Deluxe - Humbucker - Can I split it?

    I want to remove the entire active circuit as a whole on this bass - 05 active Am P Dlx.

    I want to either rewire like a J OR......add p-vol, J1-vol J2 Vol, Tone.

    If this has been addressed, I couldn't find the thread - anyone got this for me?

    I have a 99 American Deluxe myself. I've been toying with this idea myself or making it Active/Passive. Even toyed with the idea of VVTT setup. Still not sure... Eager to hear others opinion.

    I ended up not splitting it - just rewired like a Jazz Bass. DocGeorge and all the rest - who chimed in - thanks!

    You can do whatever you want, if there is four conductor wiring. If the pickup is internally wired, it's unlikely that anything Fender makes would be epoxy potted, so you can probably bring out external leads.

    Its already done - plays fine and sounds just like a bass. I think I will leave it be for now.

    I hated the preamp - could NEVER get it to sound like I wanted.

    I love the neck on this bass - it plays great. And looks nice too.
