This is a sunburst American Fender Deluxe Precision V (five string bass). I think that it is a 1998, but I am not 100% certain. Near perfect condition... One small (less than one inch in length) scratch that barely goes through the finish (if at all) on the bottom of the lower horn. The rest is near perfect. Features: Pao ferro fretboard, Alder body, Tortoise shell pickguard, Tight low B string, the neck is strsaight as an arrow. It allso features: Active 9-volt electronics (setup as: stacked bass and treble, mid, and p-up panner) that actually sound good... Warm and articulate, and very complex for a fender active. Includes molded OHSC also in perfect condition. PM me with ???'s and for pix. $750.00 shipped. I can do paypal (verified) or money order and have excellent feedback on ebay as a referrence. Will ship only to the main 48 states. I am going for the no trades route unless you want to trade straight up for an Alembic Epic 5 with a good, preferrably original, HSC, a Warwick Corvette 5 w/ wenge neck, or an Avalon U5 + cash. More pix available upon request... Thanks! The link to what fender has: http://www.fender.com/gear/gear.php?partno=0195362
I see in the photo that you have a Roscoe Beck V, how does the deluxe P compare in tone to that. ...it does have the one double p pickup in the bridge position.... I ask because I'm interested, but would have to sell some stuff first.
it does the precision sound very well (IMHO) for an active... not jamerson-esque by any means (especially with the rounds on it) but it certainly holds it's own vs. other active p-combo basses. it has a humbucker jazz pick-up in the bridge position with a nice barky burp to it as well. it doesn't really have the dull clank that i have associated with many fender actives. it has a more bright yet subtle "bite" that i associate with higher-end actives... hardly your typical fender tones (for better or for worse). with the active electronics, it really sounds nothing like the roscoe beck which nails basically every "classic" jazz bass tone: warm, wooly, and compressed. i would describe the PDV more like an old p-lyte on steroids...
If ya put it on eBay send me a link, I don't have the 700+$ to spend on it but atleast I'll bump up the bid for ya
while i appreciate your sentiment, no shill-bidding please... ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2571522103&category=38079&rd=1
