I hate to ask but does anyone have a tab for Tom Petty's American Girl?
you should try to learn this by ear, there is nothing to it! But hear ya go, google is your friend!
Note that the tab states that the E string is drop-tuned to D. That is not correct, it is standard E tuning.
This will put you in the ball park, but listen to the song, as there are a few transitional notes that aren't in the tab.
This song actually is a little more sophisticated as it has an overdubbed high bass part on it as well as the main part.
Also has bass harmonics if I remember correctly, msot of it is in D, A and B chords...
I don't know if this will do you any help, but I usually just google the song's chords and then listen to it over and over again until I can figure it out. Once you know the general area of where the bass player is playing it's a lot easier to figure it out. It's good practice and I've noticed that with this my ear is getting a lot better too.
