I was watching American Idol the other day, then decided I needed to get some practice time. I pick up one of my lesson videos, and who do I see smilin' back at me? One of the American Idol judges. Unfortunately, not Paula Abdul. Randy Jackson. The same Randy Jackson that does the "Mastering the Groove" CD. Go figure.

he did an album with journey, raised on radio.
  5. His harmonics on "Send Her My Love" are one of my favorite bass parts. Nice touch.

Gallien Krueger for the last 12 years!
I also like the octave lines that he played on "I Know" by Dionne Farris.
  8. He did. Although I might have read that Jackson ghosted that track. I honestly don't remember, now that you brought it up, so take my claim with a grain of salt.

Randy played on a few tracks on that album. I believe I read that thats him doing the funky bass-work on "After The Fall". He's also been Mariah Carey's right hand man for years as well as the A&R man for her (possibly former) label.

My band used to do Girl can't help it! I love the little slide bass lick right in the opening riff.

The premise of the show is sorta cheesy, but once they got down to the last 10, there's some real talent there.

  17. ugh, i hate that show, all we need is another pop star in the record business.
  18. I seem to remember a Journey video he was on that had said bass.;)
