I got my first bass a little while ago, but I had no money for an amp. I've been running my bass into my computer by a line-in cord, and it works, but am I missing out? I've looked for "bassy" audio enhancers, but can't seem to find any, so my question is, does my bass sound any worse then it could on a bass amp ? Or is this setup ok for a while ?

    Get a real amp.

And if you can't do that, get a Pignose.

Even a Pignose is better than a computer. :D

Well, it's probably tied with a 10 watt rogue, so don't run out and buy an $70 amp. I actually play through my boombox (50 watts rms, two 5" woofers) when I want to play quietly at night.

I use my computer for ALL of my home playing.

Moved to amps for more suggestions.

Same here. I guess it depends if your home PC speakers are decent or not. Mine are absolutely kickin and sound as good as my bigger gig rigs. Not as loud but they don't have to be..........

You can't keep playing to 4 walls your whole life. Eventually you'll want to join a band and go play live? You should look at an amp at some stage.
