Amp Head Troubles

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by SundanceChile, Oct 10, 2005.

  1. ok, i've recently bought a used SWR Workingman's 4004(red logo) used, and i have to admit i am loving the rich tone i'm getting from the amp into my 2x12. the only problem is, it makes a popping noise whenever i start to push the gain. the problem is solved by pushing down on the jack of my cord from bass to amp, or pushing up on it as well. is there something that i could tighten to keep the popping noise from reoccuring, or is this it's way of saying its prepping to kick the bucket?
  2. bumpty, any help would be greatly appreciated. :bassist:

Sounds like your input jack is having issues.

I would open the amp up and see if there are any loose wires/bad solder joints and check if the contacts are making contact. If the jack is totally enclosed I would just replace it.
