How many of you would or have made purchases on eBay from a seller than has 0 feedback?

Typically, I wouldn't even consider it, but the overall seldomness that this amp comes around has me thinking about it. :meh:

Simple I would send the seller a message telling him you will bid and buy it but he must ship it to you first before you pay since he has no feedback. After receiving the amp you will post payment. If he does not except run run run.

I highly doubt any ebay sellers would except those terms now days. Look for any noticeable red flags. I've personally purchased from a 0 feedback seller a couple of times without any problems. They have to start somewhere. But if your buying a high dollar item is it worth the risk to you?

Simple....Paypal will cover if it is paid for with paypal and the seller has the paypal coverage listed(usually at the bottom of the auction page).

Have a dialog with the seller. You can usually get a pretty good idea of the person by talking by email and phone. Ask for very specific individual pictures of parts of the item to make sure he actually does have it. Verify verify verify. There are people who are new and are trustworthy on ebay. Just cover your bases.

Sometimes you just have to trust! I did purchase from a seller with zero FB and it was a disaster. I did get all my money back. The truth is that we all had to start at zero.

If they wanted me to buy it they would.

When a seller has a more expensive item like a Bass Amp on Ebay with no feedback I question the heck out of it.

Seems they would have at least enough sense to sell a couple inexpensive items to gain some feedback first and show they will follow through with a transaction.

I purchased an amp from a 0 feedback user a number of years ago and got burnt. After getting the amp I realised the item was not in the condition the pics led to believe, and there were issues with the amp. Had to take it straight to the repair shop. After contacting the seller I realised then this person had no idea what they were doing or what they were talking about. They finally did agree to give me $100.00 back but that was not enough.

0 feedback does not always mean someone out to rip you off, sometimes it can simply and surely mean inexperience and lack of knowledge.

    Buyer Beware.

and they would more then likely pass on you because another buyer will come along. A new seller would probably have have trust concerns as well.

Yes it is most fruggle to make all your puchases on Ebay from 0 feedback sellers.

I've looked for sellers with no feedback as you can usually get a great deal. Just use paypal.

It can take months for Paypal to reimburse you though, if it was a ripoff deal, so only go that route if you can afford to have your money sit in Paypal's pockets for literally a couple of months.

I wouldn't do it. There is no such thing as a one-time only good deal.

  13. Hi.

No experience with e-bay, but I've done it on local on-line auctions.

The way it works over here is that the buyer transfers the money to the sellers bank account and the seller sends the item. On low feedback sellers/buyers, COD is also often used.

Over here we tend to trust each-other, and I personally haven't been burned. Yet?

Communication is the key like said earlier.

    A side-note question.

If the 100 or so feedback is from low value ($1-$5 for example) collectibles etc. trading, would that really make the seller more trustworthy?

    Regards
    Sam

I have to say first that I have had a couple of nightmares with 0 feedback eBayers.
It is a little scary that the listing has no information about shipping or payment in the description, but that could just be because the seller is an eBay newbie. That actually might be a good thing in a way, as he might be more likely to let you dictate the terms of the transaction, especially if you are an experienced eBayer. It also looks unlikely that this guy is opening a new eBay account to run away from a previous bad history, as is sometimes the case.
On the plus side also, it is encouraging that the amp is shown with the original packing components, but I would ask for pictures of the amp outside the packaging to verify that it's in the condition he claims it is in.
Like some of the other posts say, communicate with the seller and you will get a sense of whether he will come through for you or not.

Considering there is a hidden reserve, maybe he wants more money for it than the risk or questions are worth?

Now that's interesting. I wonder why it's priced so much cheaper in that scenario than buying the amp outright from MF?

And I don't know if that wasn't showing in my searches or I'm completely ********, but that is much more appealing.

I made that gamble a couple months ago on a valentine v1.8 radar detector. It ended up paying off, I got a $400 dollar radar detector for $180 because most people were also weary of bidding. Depending on how much time is left on the auction I would see if you could exchange phone #s and discuss the auction and express your concerns. You can feel him or her out from there, if they are legit they shouldn't have a problem with this.
