I'm new to the bass, and need some education about amps. I see Carvin has what looks like a nice little, lightweight, 250W amp that is pretty cheap, the BX250 http://www.carvinguitars.com/products/BX250 With the right speaker cabinet, is there a reason that this would not make a good amp for double bass? What about the MB10 combo amp that they sell for just a little more money? Anyone ever tried one for DB? Just wondering. Thanks.

    Chris,
Lots of players on the EB side of Talkbass and a handful of DB players really like this head. Since it doesn't have a low cut filter, and it's input impedance is 200 K Ohm , I'd reccommend looking at purchasing the HPF/Buffer Pre Amp, a piezo pickup needs to see 1 Meg Ohm at the input. It just sounds better, Francis Deck builds the HPF/Buffer Pre Amp. https://sites.google.com/site/hpftechllc/home/hpf-pre
