Amp randomly makes a "pop"... cause?

My Peavey Tour700 amp has started occasionally making a "pop" sound in the middle of use...

This is NOT happening at start up or shut down... it is in the middle of playing and seems to correspond to the volume I am playing (low volume = low pop, loud volume = loud pop).

Any idea what the cause might be?

Have you tested it at a different place? Could simply be something else on the power line, e.g. a refrigerator.

Bust solder joint will do it, sometimes something inside decides to shift and breaks and remakes a connection. If by volume you mean position of the control, then the broke thing is before the volume control. If its how hard you play your bass, make sure its the amp not something earlier.
