Amp Suggestions...?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Reemo_bassist, Feb 16, 2002.

  1. I am thinking of buying a new rig, possibly a 1x15 & 2x10 or a 1x15 & 4x10. And a +-400w head. Which amp/cab would be the best for a budget of $1200?

I would reccomend a carvin R-600 if oyu only need around 400 watts anyways...(although for 80 bucks more, you oculd just upgrade to the R-1000 and get another 400 watts for next to nothing...) and then spend the other cash on a quality cab...I believe the r-600 is only $580 so about 600 w/ shipping. that leaves you with 700 to spend on a nice cab. You could pick up an eden 410xlt, goliath (4x10), there are a ton of cabs you could get for 700 bucks. Or you could get used cabs and end up with a real nice rig...

There's a ton of options if you go with carvin heads, and I can tell you right now, that there's not a sound out there that isn't within it's reach...
Good luck. 1300 is a good budget...

Another Carvin vote... The heads are great IMO, and like others, I feel that the cabs leave something to be desired. I upgraded the speakers in my RC210 to Eminence Kappa's and tonight will be the first gig with them in there. I may even revise my opinion on the cabs... It may just be the speakers...

FWIW, the R600 head absolutely kills with Eden cabs!
