Amp too weak for this cab combination?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Sublab, Jul 26, 2012.

  1. Hey,

I'm getting a second SVT410he and stacking them in series. My Eden Nemesis is 400Watts at 4ohms. My cabs will be 1000Watts at 4ohms. I'm guessing the lower wattage of the amp will not be a problem, but wanted to be sure anyway.

400W and 8 10" speakers will be PLENTY loud.
Unless the Eden Nemesis is an underachiever, I don't know that amp.

Do you have much trouble now being heard?

No problem at all. If you're willing to haul the cabs, they'll milk a ton of volume from that head.
  4. No such thing as "amp too weak". They would sound great with 30W amp.

Get some more coffee. Unless I'm understanding incorrectly, he is going from 8 ohms to 4, not the other way around - but the "in series" throws me for a loop also.

  6. Getting some now.:)

I'm guessing that he means that he is going to daisy-chain the cabinets together, though the result of that, of course, is that the cabinets will be in parallel, not in series.

No problem unless your load is not 4 ohms.
  10. Allright, with series I'm meaning hooking the second cab onto the first which is hooked up with the amp. This would make the cabs 4 ohm, right? Seperately they're 8 ohm, the amp is 4 ohms.

Correct, but when you do that, the cabinets are connected in parallel, not series.
  12. So like this, in parallel, it would make them 4ohms, right?
