I currently play with a Hartke 3500 pushing two Aguilar GS112. I like the sound I get from this setup, but know that it can get so much better. The cabs are amazing !!!

I'm gonna start playing more gigs than usual and really want to get a really good bass amp to make the cabs sound their best.

I really wanted an Agui Db750 or DB359 amp, but their really expensive (and yes I've looked at used ones) but didn't find many used Aguilars. Last week I played the Ampeg SVT-IV pro and liked it a lot. So I was leaning toward it. Since I live in Puerto Rico there are not a lot of amps that I can try before buying. I have tried Ampeg, GK, Hartke and can try SWR but still haven't. I just wanted to see which amp do you recommend for these two little but powerful cabs. The more lightweight the amp the better, but don't exclude others because of weight if the sound is worth it.

    Any advice is welcome.
    Thanks...

If you could afford the Aguilars, that'd be nice. I feel your pain. If you liked the SVT-IV Pro, go for it. It has no reliability issues that I am aware of and it has lots of 'booty' in a relatively light(46 lbs) package. I still have my SVT III Pro, and won't turn loose of it (even though it's been relegated to studio duty) because I simply LOVE the tone. Yes, it's underpowered. Can be 'hissy' ***! I Love the little rascal. Glad you like your GS112s! They were what I was dreaming about ten years ago when I 'downsized' to my Peavey 410/115 stacks. Life is good!

my Gk1001RB is a cool head. 540 watts at 18 lbs. The new ones are 700 watts at about the same weight, I think. They can get some booty, you just have to know how to use the controls effectively.

    Thanks for the advice.

I'll give more info. about me-
I play a Lakland Skyline 55-01, have a Sansamp BDDI (which I love) and play hard rock, pop rock, reggae, ska, blues, etc.

I've been hearing some good info about the EA and MESA Amps. Are they a good match for the Aguies??

Keep helping guys, I'm all ears (eyes actually)

Based on postings here, The new GK RB1001 really sounds intriguing...it may be all that you need-and you can't quibble with two rack spaces and 18 lbs! Plus, it should be less money new than the Ampeg is, used.
