Does anyone have one? I'm really looking to find one, or atleast a reiussed model. I've just fallen in love with them. Also, how's their tone? Please give me as much info on them as possible.

Never played one, but always wanted to. Check this guy out. His repro's are supposed to be great.

The tone is, umm, terrible. That's why most famous players who actually used them (Rick Danko, Boz Burrell) added P-bass pickups to theirs.

yeah I have to agree... I played the fretless one a couple weeks ago through an SVT (original) and an 'Earth' tube amp... Both amps are killer, but the ampeg scroll bass (orignal as well) sounded really horrible on either set up. That Ebony ramp/thumbrest/pickup was cool... but that was about it.

I think an added pup (especially closer to the bridge) would brighten things up a tad...
