This works. The SCR-DI fattens up the sound for something a bit more old-school.

  2. Can't deny that the SCR does add that "Ampeg Mojo" to just about anything!

Lovin' mine via a P-bass, into a Keeley Bassist, and feeding a Quilter Bass Block 800 into an SVT810. Awesomeness (and a LOT lighter than an SVT head!).

Ampeg and Aguilar work well together, IME/IMO.
I run a TH500 with 2 Ampeg SVT112AV cabs and the combination sounds great. I can coax a fairly convincing SVTish tone out of my TH500. Occasionally run my SCR-DI into the effects return of the TH and that sounds great as well!

Yeah, it’s particularly good with a P Bass.

  5. ...Although, I did have to use the -15 db pad; the DiMarzio P-pup was just too hot.

Ironically, my DiMarzio J-pup set didn't have this issue, and are actually about 8 db quieter (and about 20+ years older! That's where my MXR M81 preamp comes in handy- just a plain volume boost)!
