    Hi everyone!

I would like to know if any of you has tried the Ampeg B100-R with an Upright bass, and if you did what is your opinion.

I was offered a good deal on a new one. ;)

    Thanks

    Jose

The Ampeg B100R is a very warm and smooth sounding amp. I feel it has too much low-end for the Double Bass. It gets boomy. However, it is well built, and does have a good sound. Give it a try!

Ampegs will always give you an agressive rock tone. And the fact that it has a 15" makes it a muddy agressive tone. Perhaps if the speaker were cast instead of stamped that would be the case but since it's not... For an upright i would recomend either an swr workingman 12 or strawberry blonde. Also you might want to check out a hartke kickback 12 if you want a little more punch.

I don't really like it for DB either. It is passable for BG, but sounds to scooped and unnatural for DB IMHO.
