In my pursuit of a B100R I’m running into a lot of $350 rigs located at Guitar Centers along the east coast, beat up, some with worn pots and jacks, etc. There was one in great condition for $200 in the Maine Craigslist but that was gone QUICK. The one on eBay is fetching some serious coin at $600. I was gonna sell my mint Marshall Class 5 combo to get one from guitar center but am getting turned off by the conditions and the fact that you have to pay for packing and shipping from guitar center.

I’m wondering what’s a new rig that’s in the ballpark of the B100R tone? Maybe a Portaflex 350 head with a Portaflex 115 cab? Any ideas?

To me, this is a no-brainer - you hit the nail on the head. The B100R is a nice amp, but a relic in today's world, if you ask me - a PF-350 and PF115 would get you a similar tone profile (and have the same sexy blue tolex), but...

    350W versus 100W
50 lbs in two pieces versus 65 lbs in one
$600 for a used B100r in God-only-knows what shape versus $700 brand spanking new with warranty

Of course, if you have the cash, throw down for a PF-50t instead of the PF-350 and you're in a whole new world altogether
