I was looking at the Ampeg B series combos and was wondering what the difference in sound is going to be between the B2 and B3. What does the front porting on the B3 do for you? Would either of these combos be well suited for a 800 seat sanctuary? Will the sound maintain it's definition at a distance?
I use two Ampeg B3158 (a 15 and an 8) and they work great for my needs. Im not sure about the 800 person hall though. I have no problems with about 500 in an auditorium.
The B2 has several advantages. First, it's considerably more powerful than the B3. It also has the capapbility to run an extension cabinet, which the B3 lacks. The B2 has a balanced line out for hooking up to the PA. I'm not certain about the B3's line out, although I'm sure it has one.
