Just bought this and am trying to remove the wooden back plate but the screws have an elongated rectangular slot, unlike any thing I have ever seen. Any ideas?

Pictures? There should be four phillips head screws on the back.

Ampeg was fond of using clutch head screws back in the day. You can get the proper screwdriver bit at McMaster-Carr. You are looking for the 5/32" size.

Not in the 60's and 70's. Ampeg was fond of the clutch head screws that Beans-on-toast shows.
