    Help! Please Help!!!

    I have a new Ampeg B2RE & SVT 15" Classic Cab

    Ampeg B2re = 250 @ 8ohms
    SVT 15" = 200watts rms & 400watts peak

After I hit the E string, AFTER the initial attack, I hear a weird, kinda ghostly, frequency modulation thing going on. Almost like a fluttering sound.

Does not happen on any other string, it happens very slightly when I hit a low F or G ...but it is strongest at the Low E.

No effects are hooked up, bass to amp. Pre set on 4-5, master on 5, eq straight up.

Is it possible that a power amp, if damaged, can make this type of sound, or is it more reasonable that the cab is the culprit.

I know, get another head and cab and swap em, I will but it will take me time to do it.

    Thanks for any help

    Forgot to add:

    1. New monster cable from bass to head
    2. New monster cable from head to speaker

Listen around the cabinet and see if you hear it from any specific place. Could be a small air leak, or noise from air going through a jack.

    Thanks for your reply!
I would never have thought of an "air leak"
    I will try that.

It's weird. In 20 years of guitar playing I have never encountered
    this sound ...anomaly before.

By the way, I also have an Ampeg Lee Jackson VL-1002 half stack.

Thanks for your help. Any other ideas?
