Ampeg B4R opinions?

    All - have an svt 410HLF cab, Fender jazz 5 string .. play rock/metal at (not overly :) loud volumes. currently have an ampeg B2RE amp, and for the money, IMHO great sound from an SS amp. Problem is .. I need more volume / 'headroom' (cab is rated at 500 w rms @ 4 ohms).

    Best amp to go with this cab for under a grand? Love Ampeg, so I'm looking at the B4R (which also will go 500x2 ohms if I ever want to add in another 4 ohm cab).

    Opinions?? thanks!

    I use my B4R with a 410HLF and am very pleased with it. I have never run out of headroom, and have never had a problem with volume, even in the largest venues. For the tone I want, it is perfect. The only thing it does not have compared to an SVT-4 head is a tube input stage and a compressor, everything else is the same. This is why I am shoping around for a tube compompressor for my head, like the summit TLA-50.
