I just ordered a used Ampeg SVT 18E to pair with my Ampeg BA210v2. Has anyone on here used this combination, and what are your thoughts? The external speakers output is 8 Ohm and the SVT 18E is also 8 Ohm. Thanks! - Tim
Well an 18 inch speaker is going to move more air than 2 10” in my experience. The BA210v2 Has an excellent SVT ultra low feature which works well, but the 2 10” can’t quite handle the ultra low the way an actual SVT cabinet can. I have a 1973 SVT and it is everything it’s supposed to be. Basically what I’m doing here is combining all my years of amp experience into one set up. The Peavey 2 10”, 1 18” I had back in the day sounded great but the amp which was a Peavey couldn’t handle it. I wish I had the cabinet but this will round out the sound and make use of the entire Ampeg amp.
Know who uses a similar combination? Johnny April of Staind...except he uses two 810's and two 218's with these big giant horn tweeters from the 70's on top. He loved it for the reasons you mentioned. It may work. Yours is like a smaller version of it.
I've never played with my 210v2 above '4'. And that was outside on a huge stage in front of 2-3K people. Where are you playing?
Excellent! I'm looking forward to patching it all together and moving some air!! Thanks for the reply, JimmyM!!
I had that amp for awhile sounds really good. I paired mine with an old PV 1x12 cab with an Eminence Beta12A in it, sounded great. Do let us know what your results are?
I have an Ampeg Neo Pro 115 cab paired with my BA210. I like it a lot better than the PF210he cab that I tried the first time around. More punch and it cuts through the mix much better.
