    Hello all,

The 54 year old bag that came with my bb4 has a few tears. Though I feel inclined to take it to an upholsterer, I believe that given its age, it will just continue to desintegrate. With that, I have the following questions:

    1) does anyone know of a company/individual that makes carrying bags for the Ampeg Baby Bass? Open to all recommendations.

    2) I like the simplicity of the original stand that came with the bb4, however, I can’t seem to find one. Any recommendations? Looking for something light, simple, and functional. Also, the original stand was designed to hold the bass from the endpin area, and many of the contemporary stands hold the instrument from the bottom side of its body - does any one believe that sitting the bass on its body may cause the seams to open up? It’s a somewhat common problem with baby basses; fortunately mine does not have any open seams, and I’d like to prevent them from happening.

    3) lastly, what can be used to maintain the glossy finish of the bass?

Thank you all in advance - this is my first rodeo with an Ampeg Baby Bass.

Mooradian makes custom order bags for the Baby Bass.

They keep tracings for instruments. They would not need a tracing from you since they have made BB bags before. They made a beautiful bag for my Azola Mini Bass. Expect it to be pricey because it's custom, I recall paying around $600 for my bag.

In case you (or anyone else) is interested in a somewhat less expensive option, Ray Ramirez sells gig bags for Baby Basses, too. They're definitely not as nice as a Mooradian bag, but they're pretty solidly constructed.

Nice, thank you! Not a huge fan of the giant RR logo on the bag, but can't beat the bang for the buck - good pricing and the quality seems superb. I think I'll end up getting one of these and sending off the original one for repair, just to keep it around as part of the instrument's history.

As far as the finish, there have been discussions about it here before. I gather that the original epoxy they used is prone to breaking down chemically, and can even start to stink. I don't think there is any easy fix for this.
