Ampeg Pro4 or Carvin R100?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Roger Heroux, Sep 22, 2000.

  1. Could I get some input? I play in a Country/Rock Duo/Trio. We work clubs,Theatre,Outdoor Fairs. I use a Eden 210XL& 115 ( Carvin )when needed. I play a Carvin LB75.There is a $600 difference?Which head do you suggest.

I always have liked the features of the R1000 head.
But if you can spend on a Ampeg SVT 4 PRO, I would go with It.
Ampeg is one of the best bass gear makers around, and It has some special sound compared to others.
I would recomend using Ampeg Cabinets with the Ampeg Amp.
Its incredible how do they sound together.

I've been doing some comparing lately, and made the observation that one could buy TWO Carvin R1000's for the price of one Ampeg Pro4. I love the looks of the Ampeg - lots of functionality, power, and a great reputation... but still! I believe the Ampeg is somewhat superior to the Carvin, but I'm not sure it's superior to TWO Carvins.

I recommended the Ampeg because he tought about it..
And I have found that Ampeg Rules..
But I would choose a Full Carvin Stack, over getting just an Ampeg Amp.
