Here before you is one of the rare gems in the Ampeg guitar amp world. This was the last version of the GS-12R amp known as the Rocket II. It was only produced 1968-1969. It was a transition for Ampeg to a more “silver face” type aesthetic as opposed to their earlier blue diamond tolex look. They moved forward with this look with their later amps. Built in the USA. This amp is comparable to a Deluxe Reverb, but so much more capable. 18 watts powered by two 7591 tubes. Single 12” speaker. Original. Spring reverb and tremolo. It also has a super cool “after-beat” switch which adds a percussive sound (think organ percussion) almost like a quick delay. Super trippy stuff. It gets incredibly loud for 18 watts. It sounds super clean, but will definitely break up when turned up. Amp is all original other than the 3 prong power cord installed, and it was recently retubed with EHX tubes. Amp is in incredible condition for its age. Very light scuffing overall, and the faceplate is pristine- which is unheard of for these amps. These are highly praised amps, and rarely come up for sale, let alone in this condition. Would consider trades for American made basses and guitars. Would love to trade for a nice keyboard- Roland, Yamaha, Korg, or older Nord. I collect vintage Ampeg gear, so always interested in that stuff. Asking $900 OBO. Message with any questions! Can meet within reasonable distance. I’m right in the middle of the state of GA. it’s about 35lbs, and it’s big. So shipping at buyer’s expense.
