Ampeg SVP-BSP

  1. Hi,

I own an ampeg SVP-BSP and I can’t get a fat, clear distortion from it.
When I use the overdrive channel I loose the bottom end.
I have to combine the 2 channels to get any botton end at all, but even doing that it’s not the tone I’m looking for.
I’m looking for a tone like Tom Araya from SLAYER especially the sound he gets on “Death’s Head" or the cover "I'm Gonna Be Your God".
Any opnions or sugestions on the settings of the Ampeg preamp?
Overdrive, fuzz or distortion, what is the diference? The SVP-BSP has a overdrive, fuzz or distortion tone?

    Thanks.

    Claremore OK.
Turn your volume down and turn the drive and gain up and then slowly turn up the volume.

I think the order from least distorted to most distorted is:

    1. overdrive
    2. fuzz
    3. distortion

the difference between these sounds is each one has more gain than the last. to get heavy distortion, you need to crank the gain. Like the guy above me said.
