boys Seeking Ampeg SVT 1969-70-71-72 vintage. is a long time. how can I tell from this serial number that year is? 094778
you can't tell anything about the age of old ampeg amps by the serial number. you can guess by the design sort of when it was made within a few years, but you have to open it up and look at the volume and tone pots to pinpoint the date better. www.unofficialampeg.com/dating
I got this one everyone.. I'll PM He's looking for a vintage SVT, and I'll help him verify the codes or at least what to look for.
You guys are awesome. I can't believe there isn't a website with SVT pictures showing the basic differences clearly! I explained how to look for the codes on the pots. If anyone knows a site with pictures showing these pots and codes, please link. Thanks!

Here are details for IDing 70's models that apply to the SVT. This has information on how to date a potentiometer from the code.
The one you have pictured is of the right era. If it sounds good and the price is reasonable I'd buy it.
serving the base of the valve vacuum left? between 6550 -4146 tubes, sound quality, power and refinement. What are the best valves?
The difference between 6550s and 6146bs in the power section of the early 70s SVTs that I've heard is subtle to my ears.
