    which would be a better match for an Ampeg 410 HLF
    an Ampeg SVT 3pro OR a GK 700RB II...or even a GK 1001rb II

    :confused::confused::confused:

    I play a GK 400rb through that cab and it sounds amazing. I have recently upgraded to a 2001 rb which I have yet to play through the cab but im also thinking about getting a MatAmp cab built for me, which will apparently be better than the ampeg 410 HLF.

    I'd say GK all the way, we played a recent gig where another band used my cab and they used the ampeg head, there is something truely special about the GK top and ampeg cab.

  3. I play through an Ampeg 610HLF, similar cab. I just switched from Ampeg to GK heads and can't recommend it enough. I use the 1001RB and it kills my old Ampeg V4.

    I played a 4x10 hlf at Guitar Center yesterday through both heads actually while demoing a bass. The SVT 3 was thunderous, fat, and punchy on the high end.

    The GK showed similar results due to the porting of the cab however, the mids were much more present and would probably cut through the mix much better.

    Try both and decide for yourself! I'd advise against asian ampeg.

    i plan to go test these two out today
    i can get the SVT3pro for $655
    but ill have to see how they sound

  6. At least perceptually speaking the GK was way louder to me than the Ampeg through that particular cabinet, even though the power ratings are similar. Generally I've found the Ampeg heads to be relatively quiet, especially compared to the GK heads that are usually relatively louder for rating than other heads.

    Also, RMC audio can get you a 700RB for under $500 IIRC.
