For most of my 35 years of playing I have not used Ampeg gear. For the last 20 years I have played SWR primarily. With that said, I bought a Ampeg SVT 4x10HLF cab. When I got is the tweeter "crankled" sounding like a speaker that had it's voice coil scrapping against the magnet. When I turned the tweeter all the way off, all speakers worked well. I cleaned the magnet groves and I replaced the diaphram and it still does it, replaced the diaphram again and it still does it.

So has anyone else had this issue before?
Does it sound like the magnet may have issues?
Crossover may have a lose solder joint or problem with the crossover???

    I appreciate your feedback.

I would recommend that you inspect and clean the L-pad (volume "resistor") at the crossover. The resistor traces in it are susceptible to oxide.
    Good luck!
