I'm thinking of buying this cabinet. Does it have as good of low end response as the 4x10 HLF??? I play a five string so low end is a good thing. I really love the way ampeg classic cabs sound, but I haven't tried this specific one. What is your opinion on this cab guys? It seems just right for me. A 4x10 will get me enough power for what I'm doing, but I think the extra two speakers are a nice thing to have if I end up playing larger venues later. Send me some feedback on this cab, I'm so close to buying it. Josh
This is my favorite Ampeg cab. The low end response is awesome. It is a rear ported cab, shich isn't evident by the appearence. The low end is tighter than the 8x10 plus it has a horn so the highs are much better. All in all I think it's a much better sounding cab.
I agree. I was A-B ing the two cabs and was very impressed with the low end. Th 8x10 had much more mid punch. I am definitely considering going with the 6x10.
I personally like the SVT410HLF better than the 610. I thought that the lows and overall punch were better on the 410. So I bought 2 of em.
So 610HLF owners.... I've got a '76 SVT head and I'm running it through an SWR Goliath III. Now I love the Goliath, and I'm gonna keep it, but I think I want something a little more uh...Ampeg-y. I rented the head to Finger 11 and David Usher (Moist) a month ago and they plugged in to a new 810. Sounded amazing. So my question is: Does the 610HLF have that Ampeg grind? I'm looking for that type of sound, but with a little more bottom end. Will the 610HLF deliver?
The 610 certainly sounds like an Ampeg, it will probably seem less detailed than your Goliath, but it has a smooth sound.
Because I bought the second one without telling my wife I was gonna. If I showed up with another, it would be too bad for me, I am afraid. That, and (2) 4 ohm cabs=2 ohms. That's all the head can handle. And it can reheheally shake the walls with just 2 of em.
