    I just called AMPEG.
All 810e are and were made with Void-free Bircg Plywood, just as advertised.
He said MAYBE, repeat, MAYBE some cabs made in 2000 MIGHT have been made from MDF, but there's no record of that, AND the VAST majority were made of Plywood.
Ampeg says, just pull off the grill and look. Plywood.
I don't know why somebody would start saying this non-sense, but, really folks if you hear something crazy here, or anywhere, you should check it out, like I did. They advertised (13?) ply void-free Birch Plywood...can you think of the Law-suits? Can you think of how heavy MDF, (OSB?), would be?
The same goes for the People who say certain years sound "dark"...I've had a bunch of these speakers, and what I dial in,(EQ. in), is EXCALTY what comes out of these great non-ported Speakers.
Like Ampeg says...just pull off the Speaker grill and LOOK.

Dude, calm down. I have owned two OSB cabs and have seen plenty built between '96 and '02(?). Want pictures to prove it? I got 'em.

Here's the front of the '98 OSB until I get on a real computer.

  3. Don't know who you called or who you talked to. I have 2 8 10e's , both of which have been through the mill and both of which are missing about 20% of their tolex and I am looking at particle board on both of them. Having worked construction for 40 some years , I am somewhat familiar with what particle board looks like. Just saying.:bassist:
Edit: Thought about this a bit and particle board is not the correct term. Technically , the op is correct. The speaker cabs are made out of OSB which is different than particle board and what I am looking at on my cabs is OSB , not particle board. OSB is however not plywood but it can be pretty tough stuff depending on the grade, (There are 4 grades of the stuff I think.)

  7. LOUD Tech/Ampeg is who was called. They know little about what SLM, MTI, Magnavox, Unimusic did in the past.

The baffle was 7-ply Marinetech plywood, everything else was particle board and OSB (I don't remember the date range for these build components). Here is a partial SVT-810E BOM from the SLM days:

  16. Don't know, a good part of the OP's posts (3 of 9) in two years was spreading this piece of bad info???

Play it safe. Use the right grade of OSB for the job.

OP better call Ampeg back with the same vigor, I am sure they will appreciate the correction.

On a side nerd note, sweet post. I love to see internal stuff, especially something like a parts list.
